When you were a kid, there’s no doubt that you dreaded when it was time to do your chores. Cleaning up took you away from all of the other fun things you could be doing. If you were lucky, you had too many extracurriculars like sports and arts to take you away from having to clean. When we get to be adults, cleaning takes on a new meaning for us. While it’s maybe not considered fun, it is still considered an essential part of being an adult.
Having a clean house is more than just having a presentable home in case visitors drop by. It can make you feel good when you come in at the end of the day. It can also be more convenient when you know where everything is. However, cleaning doesn’t come easy for everyone. In some cases it requires practise and knowledge. Here is a quick guide to some cleaning fundamentals that will help you with your goal of a spotless home.

What Is House Cleaning?
House cleaning is about more than dirt and grime. It’s about making your space as clean and as organized as possible. That means, as the old saying goes, “a place for everything and everything in its place.” It also means that you are creating a safe and comfortable haven for yourself. That means that you can’t take half measures. When you clean your home or a room, you must dedicate time and effort to it.
One of the reasons for this is that there are many nooks and crannies that can be neglected. Dirt and grime can collect in them, or even papers and other important things that need to be stored away. By doing your cleaning as thoroughly as possible, you won’t have to redo it time and time again and keep getting mediocre results.
Have a Cleaning Schedule
To properly keep your home, it’s always a good idea to keep a cleaning schedule. That way you can ensure that nothing gets neglected. One of the best things you can do is create a cleaning board that lists all of the tasks that are needed for each day of the week and month. That way you can keep everyone in the home accountable for their specific chores.
Even if you live on your own, having a chore board can be a big help. It will keep you on task, and remind you each day what needs to be done. You will never forget to do something, so you won’t fall behind. You can also create a larger schedule that has some of the uncommon tasks listed that you might only do a few times a year.
House Cleaning Essentials
To make sure that your home is as sparkling as possible, it’s important to have the right tools. There’s no point in making it difficult on yourself. Having the right products will make your jobs easier.
vacuum, duspan & broom
Vacuum: Every home needs a vacuum. If you have a carpet, it’s the only thing that will pick up dirt and debris and keep the carpet looking fresh. They are even useful on hardwood and laminate floors. If you have the budget, you could choose to invest in an automatic vacuum or one that will clean your carpets as well.
Dustpan and Broom: Vacuums can’t reach everything, so you need a good quality broom and dustpan. A broom will help to get into the corners and other tough to reach spots where dust, pet hair, and even stray crumbs may have fallen.
Disinfectant, Sponges and Cloths
Disinfectant spray: if you aren’t using disinfectant, then when you wipe off surfaces you are only pushing germs around. To properly kill them, you must use a sanitizing spray or wipe.
Sponges and Cloths: Dust and grime can accumulate everywhere. Your best weapons are using the right sponges and microfiber cloths. Microfiber will attract dust and help to get your surfaces spotless, while also being gentle. Sponges absorb cleaning water and soap and will make sure that surfaces are saturated.
Floor Scrubbing
Swiffers/Mops: if you are looking for something quick and easy to deal with, a mop with disposable cleaning sheets can do the trick. Sweep it up first and then run it over with the mop without needing to fill up a bucket or wring out the water.

Benefits of Proper House Cleaning
There are benefits of doing some deep cleaning that go beyond simply having a clean home, which is a great benefit in and of itself.
Relieves Stress: For a lot of people, one way to get rid of a bad mood or forget a tough day is to make something in their home shine. Cleaning can relieve stress by presenting you with something you can accomplish in a short period of time. You can even take out those frustrations on grit and grime if you want to.
Have Visitors at Any Time: Have you ever had someone say they are going to drop by, and you immediately panic? You may be able to get your home looking decent in a short period of time before they get there but in most cases that just involves throwing things in the nearest drawer or closet, or hiding them in a different room. That’s not really cleaning, and it only makes the problem worse. Besides, more often than not the visitor notices anyway, and they’re too polite to say so. With regular proper house cleaning, you won’t have to worry about any sudden visits, because your home will be presentable at all times.
